Georgian organic winemaking at its best

Starting from Tbilisi, you explore two of Georgia’s main wine regions: Kakheti and Kartli. You visit six different natural winemakers, all of them friends with each other, funny and crazy guys.

In every place, you taste the winemaker’s repertoire of organic wines and spirits. If you don’t get drunk too early, you will learn a lot about Georgian winemaking history and culture. But you will get drunk for sure.

Itinerary

Our guides picks you up at your accommodation. Together you drive eastwards to the Kakheti wine region. On the way, you have a stop-over in Badiauri, where you taste oven-fresh Kakhetian bread and home-made cheese.

After a short walking tour in Sighnaghi, it's time for your first wine tasting. High above the Alazani Valley, you enjoy 5 different wines from Georgian natutral winemaking pioneer John Okruashvili from Okro's Wine.

We cross the valley and at the foothills of the Caucasus mountains, in the village of Eniseli, we visit Fabio from Inavarde Wines. Fabio emigrated from Switzerland to Georgia in 2019 and has produced wine there since 2020. You experience a tour in this cellar, taste several of his natural Kakhetian wines and enjoy a decent lunch prepared by his neighbor Lali.

Overnight stay is in the nearby city of Telavi.

On a guided walking tour, you discover the most beautiful places of Telavi. And then it's already time for the next winemaker: Giorgi Ghvardzelashvili. His winery is located in the nearby village Kondoli. You visit his wine cellar and taste a few glasses of his natural wines.

After your arrival in Tbilisi, you enjoy lunch and some glasses of wine in a wine shop / wine bar in Tbilisi. In the evening, you can enjoy your free time or just relax, because you need to be prepared well for the next day.

Today we drive to the wine region of Kartli, where we visit the cave town Uplistsikhe. From there it's just a few minutes to the next wine experience. In Khidistavi, Tsotne from Wines Of Freedom welcomes you in his private house. You taste his natural wines and his fantastic Petnat, accompanied by a rich lunch prepared by his mother Nino.

After a 20min ride into the Atreni Gorge, we reach our today's final destination: Nika Vacheishvili's Marani and Guesthouse. Nika is another organic wine producer. During dinner, you taste different wines from the Ateni Gorge, each of them very distinct and unique. Nika is a great host and entertainer, you will have a unforgettable time.

After a rich breakfast, we visit Tedzami Wines in the village of Garikula. All their wines are made in Kvevri according to the traditional Georgian method and are 100 % natural.

Then it is time to visit one of the most knowledgeable winemaler in Georgie: Andro Barnovi from Wine Artisans in the village of Tsedisi. Andro is one of the most experienced winemaker in whole Georgia and a great host. You will enjoy a fantastic lunch and several types of wine.

For dinner and overnight stay, we once again go back to Nika Vacheishvili's place.

Journey back to Tbilisi and drop-off wherever in the city you wish.
